About me and my approach

I am a therapist and coach working with an integrative approach drawing on my training in gestalt and nature-allied psychotherapy. I also work with Buddhist informed mindfulness practices, nonviolent communication and have knowledge and experience of 12 step groups.

Before my therapy training I worked in the arts sector for over 25 years as a coach, mentor, and group facilitator as well as CEO, producer, educator, writer and consultant supporting creativity and expression with individuals and organisations. I have run charity organisations, taught in higher education, produced cultural events, art works and supported many creative practitioners. I have lived across the UK and in other countries and bring a varied and rich life experience to my therapeutic and coaching practice.

I work with adult clients (18+) and groups in private practice face-to-face, online and outdoors in nature. I am fully insured and adhere to the ethical guidelines of the BACP and all of my therapy and coaching work is supported by a clinical supervisor.

How I work

I work with the principle that we are naturally creative and possess an inherent capacity for growth, healing, and self-regulation when the right conditions are present.

In therapy we can explore how you relate to others, what you long for, what you avoid, and what patterns repeat themselves. Often, our difficulties stem from unfinished situations from our past that continue to influence our present. As children, we may have developed ways of being that helped us survive in our family systems and these may now limit our capacity for full self-expression and intimacy. In our work together, we celebrate how you have used your creativity to support yourself while exploring these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment.

My role is to provide a supportive, challenging, and authentic relationship where you can safely experiment with new ways of being. I will invite you to notice what you're experiencing, explore your defenses with compassion, and to reclaim disowned parts of yourself.

I will honour all aspects of your  experience - your anger as much as your sadness, your rebellious parts as much as your compliant ones. We work with polarities rather than trying to eliminate "negative" emotions, recognising that full aliveness includes access to your complete emotional range.

I feel privileged to witness and support people as they reclaim their authentic selves and discover new possibilities for living. The therapeutic space offers a unique opportunity to explore, experiment, and experience yourself in a relationship with another person who is committed to your growth and wellbeing.

What is Gestalt?

Gestalt is a powerful, present-focused approach that emphasises awareness and personal responsibility. Rather than spending extensive time analysing your past, Gestalt work invites you to explore what's happening for you right now - in this moment. This includes not only your thoughts and emotions, but also your physical sensations, breathing patterns, posture, and how you relate to others. Gestalt recognises that we are creative whole beings who communicate through our entire selves. Sometimes what we don't say, or how we hold our bodies, reveals as much as our words. By increasing awareness of these different aspects of your experience, you can gain fresh insights and discover new possibilities for change.
