How to Begin
Considering therapy or coaching can bring up mixed emotions - perhaps apprehension, uncertainty, or even excitement about finally having a space to explore your thoughts. Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to address, while others feel unsure about where to begin.
Getting in Touch
I welcome you to reach out in whatever way feels most comfortable. Send a text, an email or use the online form and I'll respond promptly. You can also call me on the phone and if you reach my voicemail, I'll return your call within the same day or by the next.
Free Initial Consultation
I offer a free 20 minute phone or video conversation to discuss the potential of working together. This allows us to explore what's prompting you to seek support and discuss how I might be able to help and for you to ask any questions you might have. Following this conversation, if we agree to work together we can schedule your first full session. Should you prefer to skip this preliminary chat and move directly to booking an appointment we can do that too. Once we've set up your first meeting, you'll receive detailed information covering location details, arrival instructions, payment methods.
Your First Full Session
This session provides space to share what's led you to seek therapy and express any hopes, worries, or expectations you may have. Whether this is your introduction to therapy or you've engaged in it previously, there's no prescribed approach - I'm here to understand your individual circumstances and work with whatever you bring.
This initial meeting also serves as an opportunity for us both to assess our compatibility as a working partnership and begin building rapport. It's an opportunity for you to ask questions about my approach and I'm happy to explain how I work. I find that therapy flourishes when built on a foundation of trust and mutual respect, where you feel free to be authentic.
Near the end of our first session, we can discuss scheduling regular appointments if we both feel it's a good fit or you are free to go away and take more time to decide. Therapy tends to be most beneficial with consistent weekly meetings, providing regular opportunities for reflection and processing between sessions.
Throughout our work together, we'll proceed at whatever pace feels right for you, exploring issues to the depth you're comfortable with. I will regularly check in about how you're experiencing our process. As therapy progresses, your objectives and needs may evolve - I encourage you to communicate these shifts. You might uncover unexpected insights or find yourself revisiting topics you thought were resolved. Regardless of where our work leads, I'm committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment.
